Frontier Soups' version of famous Cincinnati Chili includes the essential secret ingredients of cinnamon and dark unsweetened chocolate along with a sprinkling of dark red kidney beans for a robust Midwestern supper in just 30 minutes. Our version can also be served in a bowl with shredded cheddar, in a bun, barbecue style or Cincinnati-style on top of spaghetti.

Midwest Weekend CINCINNATI Chili Mix
fresh ADDITIONS
2 lbs. ground sirloin (or chuck or round)
1 28-oz can of tomato sauce
1/2 cup barbecue sauce (sweet rather than smokey)
1-1/2 cups water
1 Tablespoon brown sugar
1 Tablespoon red wine vinegar
cooking DIRECTIONS
Crumble and brown ground meat in 3 or 4-quart pot with one or two tablespoons oil, if desired. Add contents of Chili mix. Stir in additions above, bring to a simmer, add contents of chocolate packet and cook on medium-low heat, covered, for 25 minutes. Serve up this crowd-pleasing Cincinnati-style on top of spaghetti, in a bowl with grated cheese or as a barbecue beef style sandwich in a soft bun!
inventive VARIATIONS
Optional toppings: Grated cheddar cheese, sliced green onions or sour cream. Or, make a Mexican mole sauce by leaving out the meat above. Simmer and serve as a sauce over chicken breasts with rice.
