A satisfying old-fashioned stew, add beef broth and stew meat for this hearty meal.

Dakota Soup Mix including Bouquet Garni (bundled herbs, leave tied)
ADDITIONS
2 Tblsp. butter
1 very large onion, sliced
2-3 lbs. beef stew meat or oxtails
10 cups beef broth
1 tsp. salt
plenty of fresh ground black pepper
2-3 turnips, peeled and diced (or potatoes)
1/4 cup sherry
handful fresh mushrooms, sliced
cooking DIRECTIONS
Brown onion and meat in butter in an 8-qt. pot. Add Dakota Soup Mix, broth, salt and pepper, and simmer covered slowly for 2-3 hours (longer for oxtails), or until beans are softened. Stir occasionally while cooking. Add turnips, sherry, and mushrooms, and continue cooking covered for 1 hour or more. Remove bouquet garni before serving.
