Hungarian Goulash Mix Ingredients: Green lentils, potato cube, onion, carrots, red and green bell peppers, paprika, leeks, caraway seed, marjoram and thyme. No added salt, preservatives or MSG. Additions: 3/4 pound ground round 1 tablespoon oil 3 cups beef broth 1 10 ounce can Original Rotel Tomatoes with Green Chilies 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce Optional toppings: sour cream Hungarian Goulash Recipe Directions: In a 4-quart pot heat oil over medium high heat. Crumble and brown ground beef. Add contents of seasoning packet and stir for 30 seconds. Add Hungarian Goulash soup mix and stir for 30 seconds again. Add beef broth, bring to simmer, and cover for 40 minutes. Stir in Rotel tomatoes, cover and continue to simmer for 15 minutes. Fill two bowls and top each serving with a dollop of sour cream. Inventive Recipe Variations: - For a main course for four, serve Hungarian Goulash on top of wide egg noodles and enjoy.
- Or, for a Hungarian Goulash soup version add a 12-ounce bottle of dark beer, or 1 1/2 cups more broth, along with the 3 cups broth and serve with crusty bread.
